Since we're a non-profit organization, we rely on fundraising events, sponsors, and donations from people like you to keep our doors open so we can continue to help people in early recovery to rebuild their lives.

Our calendar is packed full of fundraising events here at Live Rite! We started the month out strong with our "Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner" fundraiser, last Tuesday! We had numerous volunteers who prepared many types of delicious chicken, mouthwatering side dishes, and delectable desserts, plus Josef’s European Pastry Shop donated a huge cake!

On Friday, March 6, we had another Narcan training event here at the center. We want to make sure that everyone who is willing to learn should have the opportunity to obtain the tools and skills they need in the event they encounter someone experiencing an overdose.

Last summer someone told me that we wouldn't be able to hold bingo here at the center, which motivated me to find a way to make it happen! Well, after months of our staff wading through stacks of paperwork, jumping through hoops, and hurrying up just to be made to wait, the dream is finally becoming a reality! On March 21 from 12-4 pm, our monthly Bingo games will begin! We will have Bingo on the 3rd Saturday of the month, year-round. We will have everything including refreshments available to purchase right here in our events room downstairs through the red doors in the back of the building. We are so excited that this is finally happening, and we can't wait to see who shows up!

We are so excited to have our first Bowling Fundraiser at AMF Rose Bowl Lanes (28001 Groesbeck Highway) on March 29th from 1-3 pm. It’s $12 per person for 2 hours of bowling and shoe rental. There will also be a 50/50 raffle! It’s sure to be a great time, so hurry up and get your 6-person team together and check out the events page on our Facebook page or website for more details!

On Tuesday, March 31st from 6-9 pm, we will be having our Benefit Night Fundraiser at bd's Mongolian Grill in Sterling Heights (13150 Hall Road)! You can stop into the Resource Center and pick up a card to bring in when you dine that evening, and 15% of what you spend will go to Live Rite! So, you get a great meal AND you get to give back to an organization that helps people in recovery! What’s not to like?

Coming up in April, we are organizing our biggest event ever! On April 28th, from 6-9 pm, we have our Spring Spectacular Charity Fundraiser at Villa Penna in Sterling Heights (43985 Hayes Road). We have guest speakers Ken Daniels and Jodi Switalski, our very own Mike Walbecq will be our emcee, there will be a long-term recovery panel, local entertainment, silent auction, 50/50 raffle, and a cash bar. Tickets are $100 per guest, and they can be purchased at the Resource Center, on our website, or by visiting our Facebook page. There are also sponsorship opportunities available.

One of my favorite fundraising events is something ongoing that’s available on Facebook. For birthdays, you can choose a non-profit organization for your friends to donate to in honor of your birthday. Here at Live Rite, the money raised for those birthday fundraisers goes into our scholarship fund to help people who can’t afford to pay to get into sober living and haven’t been able to get funding elsewhere. I personally see these people come in and witness their desperation, because they want a safe, stable, structured, clean, sober place to recover, and we can help them obtain that.

We have all been touched by addiction in one way or another. I hope you can find it in your heart to contribute in some way if you are able to! Thanks!
